British Airways launches Avios-Only flights to Barbados and Geneva

British Airways has announced details of its latest Avios-Only flights, which will operate to Barbados and Geneva in early 2025.

A total of 400 seats are now available on a flight departing Heathrow for the Caribbean island on 15 February, 2025, with the return Avios-Only service leaving a week later on 22 February.

BA first launched the Avios-Only initiative last year, with initial routes from Gatwick to Sharm El Sheikh and Heathrow to Geneva.

These were followed shortly after by Avios-Only flights to Las Palmas, Lanzarote, Tenerife and Nice, then Florence, Mallorca, Faro, Corfu and Ibiza, and most recently long-haul flights to and from Dubai – which sold out in less than nine hours.

The initiative means that every seat in all cabins on the Barbados flights can be purchased using Avios, instead of the usual guarantee of a minimum of up to 14 reward seats on long-haul services.

Executive Club members can redeem from 70,000 Avios plus £150 for World Traveller seats, from 135,000 Avios plus £330 for World Traveller Plus, and from 200,000 Avios plus £450 for Club World. A sliding scale is also available where fewer Avios are used and more of the ticket price is made up of cash.

Members can also use companion and upgrade vouchers where applicable.

BA said that the announcement of an Avios-Only service to Barbados coincided with its 70th anniversary of flights to the island.

The carrier has also released tickets for an additional Avios-Only service between Heathrow and Geneva in February 2025, with flight BA727 departing London on 22 February, and the return service leaving Geneva on 1 March. Seat are available from 19,500 Avios plus £1.
