Eamonn Holmes forced to miss part of GB News after being stranded during storm chaos

GB News viewers woke up to the latest headlines from Tom Harwood and Isabel Webster on Monday morning as regular broadcaster Eamonn Holmes was unable to make it into the studio in time.

"This is breakfast with Isabel Webster and for the moment, me Tom Harwood," Tom began.

Explaining Eamonn's absence, Isabel said: "It's a bit different this morning. Eamonn is on his way in but he's been caught up in Storm Kathleen. More on that a little bit later."

Eamonn finally made it into the studio by 7.15am and joined Tom and Isabel on the show as he patted Tom on the back for stepping in for him.

"What a shocker Eamonn, so what happened?" Isabel asked the Irish presenter. "You were at the airport by 11am yesterday morning..."

Eamonn explained he didn't get home until 11.30am on Sunday, with the veteran broadcaster adding: "It's just one of those things.

"The weather situation... A lot of people in the further north would have been through it as they were more likely to be affected.

"So Edinburgh, Newcastle, Glasgow, Aberdeen - they were all affected by it. But we are here."

He then jokingly yanked Tom on the arm and told him to "get out" of his seat next to Isabel so he could present the show.

Later on, Eamonn admitted he was feeling a bit hoarse, with his voice sounding more strained than usual.

He said the landing at London's Heathrow Airport was a little bit turbulent but made it clear to viewers that no one blamed the airline for the delays.

Eamonn took to social media on Sunday to share updates with his thousands of followers about the delays he faced while he was at the airport.

The 64-year-old shared a selfie while in the airport which he captioned: "Huge winds playing havoc with flights today. Not sure you’ll be seeing me on @GBNews Breakfast tomorrow the way things are going? Been in Glasgow airport since 11am."

He was inundated with messages from his fans who were concerned, with one writing: "Oh, take care. Safe travels."

Eamonn was meant to appear in the GB News studio at 6am when the programme started, but Isabel told her Instagram followers in a video she'd "cut him some slack" following his airport issues.

Storm Kathleen grounded more than 100 flights, it has been widely reported, after the Met Office issued a yellow warning.

Breakfast with Eamonn and Isabel airs on weekdays from 6am on GB News.
