Ninja Warrior UK leaves viewers crying as ITV host 'tears up' over 'brave' contestant

Ninja Warrior host Rochelle Humes 'tears up'

Ninja Warrior UK broke records tonight after amputee contestant Matt completed the tough course leaving the ITV show's hosts and viewers in tears. Ben Shephard, Rochelle Humes and Chris Kamara were back on television screens on Saturday (April 6) as Ninja Warrior returned - but with a twist.

The new contest dubbed Race For Glory sees competitors from across the nation test their strength, speed and courage over an obstacle course. This time there is a knockout competition structure to find male and female champions.

Contenders not only face each other and a difficult new course, but they will also have to face the Elite Ninjas - a team of professional athletes determined to beat them in head-to-head races. Matt returned to the course after previously being on the show in season two.

However, since his last appearance, Matt had one leg amputated below the knee. But the brave contender didn't let his disability hold him back as he took on Ninja Warrior UK: Race For Glory.

Matt was met with echoes of support from around the studio as the audience cheered him on. When he got to the dreaded wall he was unable to complete it on his first try.

However, his opponent shouted words of support from the top of the podium as the audience roared in hopes of giving Matt some encouragement.

Ben, Chris and Rochelle could also be seen and heard supporting Matt urging him to finish the race.

As Matt took a big step back, he then ran up the wall, gripped the top and pulled himself up onto the podium as he completed the course.

He stood up and celebrated with the crowd as he excitedly removed his prosthetic leg and raised it above his head before he threw it onto the floor.

As the camera panned to Rochelle, she could be seen looking up at Matt with tears in her eyes. Ben's voice also sounded softer as he congratulated Matt and along with Chris, they hugged both contenders after branding him a "hero".

Ben then announced that Matt was the first ever amputee to complete Ninja Warrior in the whole world leaving the contestant crying with pride as he then gave an emotional speech.

Ninja Warrior UK: Race For Glory viewers were also touched by Matt's determination and strength after completing the course and flooded social media with compliments.
