LIV Golf star given extra motivation by behind-closed-doors Justin Thomas dig
LIV Golf star Mito Pereira was left stung by a jibe from Justin Thomas, which was caught on camera during Netflix's Full Swing series. The incident occurred at the 2023 Champions' dinner, an annual event where past champions gather on the eve of the tournament.

During his toast, he took a playful jab at Pereira, who had been the runner-up the previous year.
Thomas had been trailing Pereira on the final hole, but a costly bogey from Pereira allowed Thomas to clinch victory over Will Zalatoris in the play-off. In his speech, Thomas quipped: "I personally want to have a cheers to Mito Pereira because this would not happen without him," a comment that drew hearty laughter from the other champions.
However, Pereira was less amused when he discovered the dig after watching it on Netflix. And he admitted it's given him extra motivation to "beat him" when the chance next arises.

I've seen Instagram and he's not getting a lot of love about that. I'm not really close to him so it's not like I'm going to go talk to him. It hurt a little bit, just not really to go at him and say something.
"It gives you a little bit of fire. If that happens again I'd really like to be in that position to beat him."
Pereira is set to compete at this week's LIV Golf Miami event, whereas Thomas is taking time off to prepare for next week's Masters, opting out of the PGA Tour's Texas Open this weekend.

The two-time major winner will head to Augusta with a fresh face on his team after ending his partnership with caddy Jim 'Bones' Mackay. Earlier this week, Thomas revealed he had split with Mackay after a three-year collaboration.
Pereira will not feature in this year's Masters having not qualified for the event. He's been a victim of LIV Golf events still not being given Official Golf World Ranking points and has dropped out of the top 50.
In a cruel twist of fate, winning the US PGA Championship which Thomas won would have made him eligible as a major winner.
