Good Morning Britain's Kate Garraway sparks concern as host replaced by co-star

Kate Garraway was noticeably absent from Thursday's Good Morning Britain and was replaced by Charlotte Hawkins. Kate usually co-hosts the ITV show on Thursdays and Fridays and her last appearance was last week, where she sat alongside Rob Rinder.

Since Ben quit to co-host This Morning with Cat Deeley, it seems a series of guest presenters will fill in the gaps until ITV chiefs choose a permanent stand-in. Richard Madeley, who had been presenting the whole week, stepped in to host with regular Charlotte this past Thursday.

Kate didn't mention her break from the show last Friday, but Rob told her at the beginning of the programme: "I don't think I'll be seeing you this week." The mum-of-two is yet to address her absence on social media, but she could be taking a break for the Easter holidays like her co-star Susanna Reid, who is also taking some time off.

Charlotte also took to social media before Thursday's show to let viewers know she would be co-presenting. Along with a photo of her and Richard sitting at the GMB desk, Charlotte wrote: "Morning from @gmb! All the day’s news plus our debate today is whether teens should be forced to get part-time jobs - let us know what you think.

"@richardm56 set up a carwash round while at school, & I worked in a shop at a holiday camp! What was yours?"

Kate rejoined her presenting duties in January after taking two months off.

The mum-of-two took a break from the show due to health complications suffered by her late husband Derek Draper.

Derek had a heart attack in December and sadly died in January after a long fight with long Covid.

When Kate returned, it was a moment filled with mixed emotions. However, she expressed gratitude for the love and support from her co-stars.

Later, it was announced that her co-host Ben would be leaving the ITV show to take up a new position on This Morning.

Ben and his This Morning co-star Cat Deeley have also taken a break from hosting duties.

The dynamic duo have been replaced by regularly presenters Alison Hammond and Dermot O'Leary.

Good Morning Britain airs weekdays at 6am on ITV.
