GMB's Charlotte Hawkins sparks division as she makes rare marriage admission

GMB: Richard and Charlotte discuss snoring

Charlotte Hawkins sparked division on Thursday morning after she made a rare marriage admission about her husband while on Good Morning Britain on Thursday. The English presenter fronted the ITV daytime programme alongside co-host Richard Madeley.

The pair landed on the topic of snoring. They debated whether or not it's okay to film your partner snoring after they've denied it previously. At the end of the conversation, Richard quipped: "I snore from time to time - apparently. Allegedly. But Judy doesn't." He then asked Charlotte: "Do you snore?"

She replied: "I couldn't possibly comment. My husband will put me on the phone now," to which Richard joked: "I take that as a yes!" After the break, Richard then joked: "I feel a phone poll coming on...Is Charlotte Hawkins a bad wife? Making secret videos of her snoring husband?" To which Charlotte gasped: "What? No!"

She continued: "Honestly, I think people now up and down the country are thinking, 'That is a genius idea.' If your partner is in denial..." to which Richard interrupted: "Well, that's the point.

"He denies it in the morning. When you were saying you were snoring again last night, he said he wasn't. That's why you did it?" Charlotte then added: "Sometimes you need to present people with evidence of the truth. Desperate times."

Many viewers were left divided on the topic, with some saying it isn't acceptable.

One person commented on X: "Yes it is, also a pillow over the face & a dig in the ribs... All perfectly acceptable and effective #snoring #GMB."

A second said: "Charlotte is an absolute genius! I also got video proof of my husband snoring and he was STUNNED when I showed it to him. It was SO BAD that I could even hear it from the spare room!"

A third typed: "I recorded my husband as he doesn’t believe he snores. The only way to prove to him that he does so he does something about it. How else will he know?" (sic)

A fourth chimed in: "My husband said I snore so I said prove it so he voice recorded me while I was asleep and used it as a ringtone, I was mortified."

However, not everyone agreed. One person said: "Not sure about videoing, I have recorded them though." A second similarly commented: "No as they did not consent."

Good Morning Britain airs daily at 6am on ITV and ITVX.
