De Zerbi: I was really pleased with Brighton's Anfield performance

Brighton head coach Roberto De Zerbi had no complaints about his side's performance against Liverpool.

The Albion were unable to get anything from their trip to Anfield on Sunday in the Premier League.

They lost 2-1 to the title chasers, who are top of the table by two points from Arsenal.

“We are not disappointed; we are sad for the result but really pleased with the performance," said De Zerbi after the game.

“We played against a great team and played a good game. We conceded maybe too many shots.

“We changed and didn't mark to man to man and conceded more ball possession, but we had chances to score in the first half and then in the last 15 minutes with [Adam] Lallana, [Danny] Welbeck and [Lewis] Dunk.

“We have to be proud because we played without seven injured players so to compete how we did was very good. I didn't think we could have done any more.

“We are showed we are able to compete for a place in the European competition. We were unlucky with the first goal, it was a confusing situation. You can suffer a lot of shots against a great Liverpool team but in the last 15 minutes we could have scored."
