As we raise a glass to GITANO MEXICO CITY, Gardner recommends a few things to see, watch and listen to over the next 7 days. Dig in! SEE GITANO is inspired by artists of the 1800s like Gaugin, their plein-air painting and life spent travelling from place to place with easels folded and strapped to their backside. We’ve just curated a small Gaugin exhibit in our GITANO Mexico City pop-up, but we’re also inspired by and support modern emerging artists – Rachel Garrard is exhibiting at Zona Maco art fair, we just collaborated with Rio de Janeiro painter João Incerti and The Hole NYC Gallery hosted our opening party with LA-based artist Pedro Pedro, alongside a special evening hosted by Alteronce Gumby. LISTEN I’ve always loved the happiness and hedonism of disco music, fashion and culture. We were the first to bring disco to Tulum when we opened at the end of 2013, which created a beautiful juxtaposition between the jungle and GITANO, or “gypsy-disco”. It melds the freedom and fun of classic house and disco new and old with world music. Honey Dijon embodies so much of this – her sets are so fun. DO I’ve just binge-watched Emily in Paris season two, and I’m obsessed with The Gilded Age – can’t get enough of period dramas!
